Celebrity tattoos are becoming more and more visible and socially acceptable in mainstream pop culture these days. Angelina Jolie recently voted most sexy woman has plenty of tattoos and is probably the most famous and desirable celebrity with tattoos in Hollywood. Her tattoos to date consist of tribal dragons, a Thai tiger, and various Latin sayings across her shoulders and arms.

This surge in popularity of celebrity tattoos began in the 1960s. Lyle Tuttle the forefather of American tattooing tattooed Janis Joplin. Musicians have traditionally enjoyed more freedom than actors when it comes to body art. For movie stars having to transform into a different character each time they shoot a movie can be limiting especially if they are playing historical figures. But that has not stopped a lot of actors from getting tattooed in very visible places.

Historically rock stars were renowned for getting tattoos. The band Red Hot Chili Peppers are an example where the band members have a well-developed collection of tattoos. Aneh Bin Ajaib, Padi Tak Tersentuh Lahar

Warga menyaksikan Kali Gendol yang rata tertutup material letusan Gunung Merapi di Dusun Bonggang, Desa Argomulyo, Kecamatan Cangkringan, Sleman, DI Yogyakarta, Sabtu (6/11/2010).

SLEMAN, KOMPAS.com — Hulu Sungai Gendol di wilayah atas Cangkringan, Sleman, yang berjarak sekitar 5 km dari puncak Merapi, berubah menjadi gunungan setelah tertimbun material vulkanik yang dimuntahkan Merapi pada Kamis (4/11/2010) malam.

"Sebelum terimbun, sungai ini lebar dan dalam, kira-kira sedalam 30 meter. Seperti jurang kalau dilihat dari tepi sungai," kata Suwarjo (42), penduduk setempat, yang meninggalkan lokasi pengungsian untuk menengok rumahnya.

Ketika Antara mendatangi lokasi pada Sabtu (6/11/2010) siang dan menyaksikan hulu sungai itu dari jarak 5 meter, Suwarjo berteriak untuk memperingatkan bahwa material itu masih mengandung bara.

Bagi orang luar, bukan penduduk Cangkringan, fenomena sungai Gendol itu mencengangkan. Tak ada tanda-tanda sama sekali bahwa di bawah ribuan ton lahar itu ada sebuah sungai sedalam jurang. Aroma belerang yang menyengat tercium di kawasan berbahaya ini.

Di sekitar hulu sungai terdapat perkampungan penduduk yang sudah mengungsi. Atap rumah-rumah dan daun-daun pepohonan besar tertutupi abu dan pasir.

Kebun salak luluh lantak, porak-poranda. Cangkringan menjadi kawasan mati, dengan kerusakan yang masif.

Kawasan lereng Merapi yang mengalami kehancuran di mana-mana terjadi di Desa Glagaharjo. Sepanjang jalan menuju puncak Merapi, pohon-pohon bertumbangan. Tiang listrik dari beton patah. Tiang besi telepon pun roboh, membuat saluran kabel-kabelnya terburai.

Sejumlah rumah penduduk tampak berantakan. "Hujan pasir campur lahar membuat semuanya seperti ini," kata seorang penduduk setempat yang sedang menengok rumahnya.

Pemadangan di Cangkringan yang mengalami kerusakan di mana-mana itu terasa magis. Semua pohon besar bisa tumbang atau dahan-dahannya patah. Daun-daun pohon kelapa lunglai berwarna coklat kusam setelah tertimpa hujan pasir dan lahar. Perkebunan salak morat-marit. Tanaman jagung hanya tinggal onggokan kusam di pematang.

Namun, hamparan padi yang baru disemai, yang baru setinggi sepuluh senti meter, sama sekali utuh dengan warna kehijauan yang menyegarkan.

"Aneh bin ajaib. Pohon besar bertumbangan. Padi yang baru tumbuh itu seperti tak tersentuh lahar Merapi," komentar seorang yang mengantar Antara memasuki wilayah maut itu.

Pengamatan lapangan di Glagaharjo itu tak berlangsung lama karena seorang relawan yang datang mengingatkan untuk segera menjauh dari puncak Merapi.

Suara hujan angin disertai gelegak seperti air mendidih, yang datang dari perut Merapi itu, semakin menyadarkan bahwa Merapi bisa muntah sewaktu-waktu.

Aktivis-relawan penolong korban Merapi itu seperti mulai mengenal tabiat Merapi. Dia segera menarik pegas motornya dan melaju menjauh dari puncak Merapi. Dia tak mau berpacu melawan kecepatan lahar Merapi yang oleh pakar geologi diibaratkan sekencang mobil Formula Satu itu.
